Their artwork based on this inspiration will be displayed throughout the Day House. SUMMARY:Expanding Perspectives on the American Revolution
DESCRIPTION:As the nation embarks on 250th anniversary celebrations of the American Revolution\, now is the perfect time to deepen our appreciation of this period in U.S. history and the role Massachusetts citizens played in overthrowing British rule. We know the storybook tale of a shot heard round the world\, the story of Aaron Guild leaving his plough; these famous moments are only part of the story of historic events which engulfed the lives of everyone living in these colonies – regardless of gender\, race\, or status. \nFor our April members’ meeting we are thrilled to have Dr. Robert Bellinger join us to discuss the participation of Black people in the Revolution as soldiers and citizens\, centered around Lexington. Join us as we learn more about this story less told and contributions to American history which are unjustly neglected or less celebrated by many. \nRobert Bellinger is a public historian with a Ph.D. in history from Boston College and an Associate Professor Emeritus at Suffolk University. As the proprietor of Righting Histories\, Dr. Bellinger engages in projects that involve research and interpretation of African American history\, local histories\, and historic sites. \nThe event will begin with the brief business of our annual members’ meeting\, including the board elections.
