The W. R. L. Club will omit its regular meeting next Thursday, May 6.

Miss Thelma Smith has returned to her homo on Walpole Street following a week’s vacation spent with friends in Boston.

Miss Laleah McDonald is resting comfortably at the Parkway Hospital and will be able to return to her home soon.

A. Mothers’ Day program will be held at the Swedish Lutheran Church on May 11 at 8 P. M. under the auspices of the Givis’ Society of the church.

Wanita Rebekah Lodge, No. 1S4. I.O.O.P. held its regular meeting in Odd Fellows Hall last Friday evening. A social hour followed the business meeting at which Monto Carlo Whist was enjoyed by those present.

The A. E. F. Class of the Baptist Church met at the Rosemary on Rosemary Street, Tuesday evening, with Rev. A. T. Fowler as the speaker. Refreshments were served during the social hour.

The Octa Club held a bridge party Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. U. S. Jones on Wheelock Avenue. Two guests beside the club members were present. Light refreshments were served by the hostess at the close of the bridge game.

The members of the H. T. B. Club will hold their final meeting of the season this evening. Supper will be served at Mrs. Barteil’s dining room on Day Street and then a business meeting and social hour will be held at the home of Mrs. Herbert Tucker at 117 Walpole Street.

A “Bon Voyage” party was given to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pelleson at their home on Neponset Street, Tuesday evening by the V.F.W. Auxiliary. The couple was presented with a traveling bog and a steamer blanket by the auxiliary, and with another blanket by other friends. They leave today for New York from where they will rail Saturday for a trip to Denmark and Sweden.

The regular meeting of Norwood Assembly of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls was held Tuesday evening in Masonic Temple. Rose Evelyn James, Lucille Fenton, Nancy Ginn, Jean Bacon, and Mary Tareila were initiated into the order. The installation ceremony of the Assembly will occur on May 25.

Mr. and Mrs. John Callahan returned to their home in Newport, Vermont after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sherman of Nahatan Street.

Miss Mabel Russell of Maple Street has been home from Lasell, College, Auburndale this week because of illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Adolphus Holton, of Cottage St. are the happy parents of a son born Sunday, April 25, at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston. The baby has been named David Adolphus Holton.

A dainty candlelight supper in the presence of a few intimate list Sunday evening at their home on West St., Braintree, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bown, from Norwood, announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Edith Brown to Mr. Richard H. Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Ellis of Washington Street, Norwood.

Miss Brown is a graduate of Norwood High School, Class of ’33, and Mr. Ellis, Class of ’31. Mr. Ellis is also a graduate of Huntington School, Boston, and attended Northeastern University. He is well-known in athletic circles for his activities in track events. Both young people are employed in Boston. Plans are being made for a fall wedding.

Leighton Thompson has returned to his home on Day Street following a few days’ visit on Cape Cod.

Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Dean of Dean Street, spent the weekend in Rhode Island.

Miss Ruth Johngren spent last week in Brockton, returning Monday to resume her position on the faculty at the high school.

Thomas E McFarland, Jr., of Arlington, visited John Costello of Savin Avenue over the weekend.

Miss Katherine Kingman of Washington Street has accepted a position at the Channing Hospital in Boston.

Mr. Julian Staniec of Syracuse, New York, spent the weekend with relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lutz, of Dean Street.

A bridge party was held Wednesday night, April 28, at the home of Mrs. Margaret O’Donnell of Islington. Prizes were awarded and refreshments served by the hostess. Guests wore present from Norwood and Islington.

Miss Mary Hefferan of Lyden Street has returned from a trip to Washington D. C.

Miss Eleanor Massey of Prospect Street spent the weekend with relatives in Medfield.

Mrs. Peter Farioli of Washington Street is recovering from a recent illness at the Norwood Hospital.

Mrs. Alice Baker is presenting a recital at Odd Fellows Hall tonight.

The final meeting of the bridge tournament being conducted by the Bird Club will be held at the Brigade Room this evening. The leaders are: Kaano Paajenen, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. O’Brien, and Miss Lillian Paquette. Refreshments will be served following the presentation of the prizes.

The racing season at the Norwood Homing Pigeon Club is starting Sunday, May 2nd. The distance is eighty miles starting at Williamstown, Massac^use^ts; Keen competition is expected in this first race as all members have been preparing their birds for it.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith, formerly of Washington Street, are now residing with Mrs. Smith’s mother at 15 Hillside Avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. Borden Armour of Norwood are the proud parents of a baby boy, born Saturday, April 23, at the Fenway Hospital, Boston.

John E. Kèary recently made a trip to New York.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles V. Britton spent the weekend at their summer home at Wareham.

Richard Barret has returned from an automobile trip to Washington, D. C.

Mr. and Jira A. C. Anderson have returned from a trip to Cobleskill, New York. While on the trip they visited the Howe Cavern.

The regular meeting of the American Legion, Norwood Post, No. 70 was held in the Civic Building Tuesday evening.

Members from Tiot Lodge, I.O.O.F., Norwood attended Reliance Lodge in Odd Fellows Hall, Walpole last evening where the first degree was conferred on a large group of candidates by Forrest Lodge of Hyde Park; five of the candidates being from Norwood. The same group is going to Samuel Dexter Lodge, Dedham, next Tuesday evening where the second degree will be given.

The regular Beano party of the American Legion will be held at the Armory, May 5, instead of at The Girls’ Vested Choir of the Congregational Church heU a most successful food sale in the church parlors Saturday afternoon,

Norwood Assembly of the Order of Rainbow for girls is sponsoring a dance at the Blackburn Memorial Hall, Walpole, this evening.

Master Peter Kipped of Dedham is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. James Butler of Maple Street.

The annual luncheon of the Norwood Mothers’ Club will be held at the Weber Duck Inn next Tuesday.

The Women’s Guild of the Grace Episcopal Church will hold a garden whist and bridge party in the Parish Hall Monday evening, May 3rd.

The Camp Fire Girls of Massachusetts are having Pops Night at Symphony Hall, Boston, May 28.
