Corner-Stone of a New Church.
Norwood. September 21.—The cornerstone of the First Universalist Church was laid today at 2.30 p. in., with Masonic honors. The new building is to be located on the site of the old one, burned six months ago. It is to be of Milford granite, with brick trimmings. A platform was erected at the northeast corner of the building where the stone was to be placed. The officers of the Grand Lodge of Masons of Massachusetts and many of the members of Orient Lodge of Norwood marched onto the platform, and the grand officers proceeded with the usual ritual service provided for the occasion. The officers of the Grand Lodge who took pa»t were as follows:

Addresses were made by Rev. A. J. Patterson. D. D. Rev. Fielder Israel. Kev. G. I. Keirn, the pastor of the society, and Hon. F. D. Ely. Appropriate music was furnished by the Weber quartet of Boston. The pastor placed in the stone the records of the church, the loading pavers—daily, local and denominational—names of church officials. builders and committees, and the old box was taken from the corner-stone of the old church.
