Thomas C. Lydon assumed his duties as Chief of Police here today. Born in Norwood Chief Lydon was appointed to the police department in 1915 and in 1932 became a sergeant.
He gained prominence in 1932 by the successful investigation and prosecution of the murder of a young South Norwood girl. He completed a course with the FBI.
Chief Lydon is married and lives at 188 Prospect St. He has four children, one of whom, Martin J., was shot down over Switzerland during 8th Air Force operations against Germany in the war.
