Sgt. Joseph Breen On Wounded List-This Day in Norwood History-January 26, 1945

It was disclosed this week by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Breen of 417 Nahatan street, that one of their seven sons serving in the armed forces. Sergeant Joseph Breen was slightly wounded on January 3rd in Luxembourg.

Sgt. Breen is attached to the 101st Infantry of the 26th Division and has completed four years of service in the army He is a graduate of Norwood High School of the Class of 1927 and before joining the armed forces he worked for Jordan Marsh Company of Boston.

During advance operations on the Western Front, last November Sergeant Breen was taken prisoner by the Nazis and was held for three weeks until he was freed by a counter-attacking Allied force which liberated the entire city in which he had been held captive. Sergeant Breen, who is 35 years old, is the eldest of the seven sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Breen. The other sons are Sergeant George Breen, serving in Panama, Sergeant John Breen, who is stationed at Camp Gordon Georgia, Corporal Howard Breen, who is with the Army in France Private Louis Breen, who is in the front lines in Germany, Storekeeper 1st Class Robert Breen, stationed with the Navy In the Marianas, and Seaman 1st Class Alfred Breen, who is assigned to the aircraft carrier Hornet.
