Sale Of Filter Bed Land, Zoning Changes Are Also Up For Action
Question of sale of a portion of the old Beacon School lot will be the main item of interest on tonight’s special town meeting warrant. Town meeting is called for 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
Selectmen have included in the warrant an article for the sale of a portion of the old school lot for residential purposes. Their decision is in conflict with the majority opinion of the Board of Library Trustees who wish the whole lot reserved . for library purposes and future library expansion. Selectmen say that even with sale of a portion of the lot, there will still be room enough reserved for library expansion.
Also on the warrant is an article for sale of a portion of the old filter bed property at Dean street and Route I. The Rev. Spiradon Dora wants to buy the property for residential purposes.
Four articles on the warrant have to do with zoning 0 by-law change for areas in the Route I district. All four articles seek to change sections along the highway from their present classifications to Trunk Highway B. opening up the highway property for business
