Phillip Small Will Join His Sons In The Merchant Marine

Sometime sooçi after the first of the year, a father and son team will take to the sea with the Merchant Marine. Philip Small of 518 Washington street, Norwood, has signed up with the Merchant Marine and will join his twin sons in the merchant service.

Mr. Small will put to sea on the same boat with one of his boys, Gordon, who is just finishing an officer’s school course and is about to get his second engineer license. And Gordon will be his Dad’s boss aboard ship.

The two are hoping that they will get on a boat bound for the British Isles as Harold’s wife is in Scotland and Mr. Small has yet to meet her. The twin brother is also in European waters, leaving here on his last trip the day before Thanksgiving.

Mr. Small isn’t new to the sea having served aboard ships twenty years ago. For the last nine years, he has been employed in the Norwood School Department. This will be his second wartime service, too. In World War I. he went across with the 2Gth Division.
