A U.S. ARMY GENERAL HOSPITAL. England — Wounded bj shrapnel during the fighting neai Verdun, Sergeant Richard E. Tisdale, 28, husband of Mrs. Eileen Tisdale of 890 Washington street Norwood, is now recovering in this United States Army general hospital in England.
“It was near Verdun, and I was just returning from a reconnaissance past enemy lines when I sav. two white ‘spots before my eyes,’ said Sgt. Tisdale. “When I awoke,’ he continued, “I found myself in Free French hospital.
“After a stay of two days in this hospital I asked to be released and was returned to my outfit. We ran into some bad weather, and as 7 was stepping out of a tank one night I slipped and fractured my shoulder in the fall. From near Verdun was flown to England.”
During his hospitalization Sgt. Tisdale has met and enjoyed talking with an old school friend Second Lieutenant Ella Thompson an Army nurse here, who comes from Brockton.
Sgt. Tisdale, an ordnance mechanic has a brother, Vernon, 27 in the Air Corps service in Panama A former munitions worker, he entered the service in October, 1942.
